Green woodpecker heard on several occasions this afternoon though not seen. As I was leaving 2 cormorants flew down into the quarry.

2 very vocal greenwoodpeckers calling in the quarry this afternoon as well as bullfinches flitting along the road into it from Talysarn end.

Have seen a few Bullfinches around just recently - they seem to have been scarce around here for the past few months. They are one of my favourites. Dorothea Quarry isn't a place I like - I find it very eerie....

Yes it can be eerie, especially when the weather is misty/low cloud. Even my dog gets spooked sometimes and is hesitant to go along a path that previously he has happily gone done. Perhaps it is haunted!

I called there again today and a saw a woodpecker in the area that the green one had been calling the other day. It was too far off to determine type. I also saw a cormorant - I think they must roost there judging by the droppings on the cliff edges in the area I have seen them late afternoon.
