Yesterday a couple of hours in a WNW-erly produced a pale morph Arctic Skua, 4 Med Gull (1st cal, 2x 2nd cal, ad), several R T Divers, 4 commic terns, one Manxie, a Goosander, Puffin and lots of Sandwich Terns; one was feeding successfully and still feeding a begging bird accompanying it. Chough were calling nearby.

The continued nice weather for birding has had me out on the Little Orme early mornings with some great results:

9th - 2 Tree Pipits and 2 Redwings over, a bit quiter than recent days but just nice to be out and about
10th - A Pied Flycatcher, my first on the orme, a Grasshopper Warbler reeling, Merlin and 3 Tree Pipits over.

No Ring Ouzels yet despite up to 22 on the Great Orme this morning!

Thanks. Yeah a cracking bird for the Little Orme, especially as it's a species which is rarely seen on passage in spring, they tend to go straight back to breeding sites.

11th - The overnight southerlies and early morning rain failed to deliver much although a Tree Sparrow had joined the House Sparrows at the farm. Otherwise just a few Wheatears and Blackcaps.

15th - A Grasshopper was reeling from bushes on the south side of the top quarry this morning. Also 54 Red-throated Divers all in breeding plumage flew West in a 30 minute seawatch. Otherwise pretty quiet but a few Meadow Pipits and Redpolls continue to fly over and a pair of Stonechats are prospecting on the lower slopes.

27th - Generally quiet up here but this morning a Lesser Whitethroat sang briefly from gorse above the top quarry.

Signs of migration early morning with a Kingfisher on the rocks below the seawatching ledge, 2 Nuthatches in bushes below the summit and 9 Grey Wagtails over.
