Wood Sand still.
A noisy Green Sand flew in 8.15 pm and called repeatedly on and off for the next hour or so!
Kingfisher
Pochard 2
Swift 1
Swallow pre-roost gathering starting to build.
Carrion Crow pre-roost gathering on the sandbanks also starting to build.
Wagtail pre-roost building too.
No sign of the Whimbrel from 2 days previous.
Highlight was when the House Martins started alarming nr the Black Cat, then a Peregrine shot through at more than 1 billion mph, so close could hear the air through its feathers, it just missed a martin and sped on, all without flapping! A proper expletive-filled moment i'm ashamed to say!!

Wood Sand still present yesterday, no sign of the Green Sand.
Still some midges floating around on the water providing food for the teal and B H Gulls.
The first brief Robin song of the autumn after their 2 week midsummer break!

A flick of a red tail in a bush eventually led to great views of a juv Redstart preening in the sun, just before the first hide - not a species i've seen many of on the reserve.
1 Shoveler.
3 Wigeon were my first of the autumn.

Greenshank 1
Kingfisher
Couple of hundred swallows.
Best bird was a Brown Argus with wings so worn you could see through them. My first of the year and no doubt my last!

Isn't a Brown Argus a butterfly? I saw a Brimstone in Boddelwyddan a couple of days ago.
